Amendments to the existing Visa categories and to revise the relevant fees

- The Legal Draftsman has prepared a draft Bill to amend section 14(1) and section 14(2) of the Immigrants and Emigrants Act, No.20 of 1948 and to add a new section as14(3)(a), to issue visas to the investors who remit US$ 500,000 to reside in Sri Lanka for 10 years, who remit US$ 300,000 to reside in Sri Lanka for 05 years and to provide a visa, in respect of persons who have lost their Sri Lankan citizenship, as a result of obtaining citizenship in foreign countries to live permanently in the country for a period prescribed by the Minister in‑charge of the subject. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon.Wajira Abeywardena, the Minister of Internal & Home Affairs and Provincial Councils & Local Government to publish the draft Bill in the Government Gazette and thereafter, to present same in Parliament for approval, was approved by the Cabinet.
