Science and Technology Human Resources Development Project

- It has been planned to establish faculties of technology in the University of Kelaniya, Rajarata University of Sri Lanka and the Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka and also a Faculty of Engineering at Sri Jayewardenapura, with a view to widening the higher educational opportunities for the youth of Sri Lanka. By this, 830 students will gain opportunities for higher education in one academic year. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Rauff Hakeem, the Minister of City Planning, Water Supply and Higher Education, to implement the Science and Technology Human Resources Development Project which is expected to provide building complexes inclusive of modern facilities for the use of students with an investment of Rs.26,400 million, was approved by the Cabinet.
