Development of Low and Middle Income Houses in the Hambantota District

- It has been planned to implement a housing programme in the densely populated areas in Hambantota in which the fisheries communities occupy where accommodation required for sanitary and recreation facilities are not available. Under this programme, it is due to construct 310 housing units for the low income earner and 56 housing units for the middle income earner in a land area of 7 acres in the Koholankala area and in 60 perches in the Tangalle area identified for the purpose. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon.Sajith Premadasa, Minister of Housing, Construction and Cultural Affairs, to obtain approval in principle for the project, was approved by the Cabinet.
