Amendment to the Power of Attorney Ordinance

- The Cabinet had granted approval previously to amend the Power of Attorney Ordinance for preventing false authentication of documents, carrying out transactions using fraudulent documents and engaging in fraudulent acts and to carry out attestation, registration and ensuring the revocation and nullity of a Power of Attorney, procedure of revocation and nullification of Power of Attorney and ensuring the confidentiality of information etc. in a more productive manner. Accordingly, the joint proposal made by Hon. Wajira Abeywardena, the Minister of Internal & Home Affairs and Provincial Councils & Local Government and Hon. (Mrs.) Thalatha Atukorala, the Minister of Justice & Prison Reforms, to present the draft Bill prepared by the Legal Draftsman, in Parliament, was approved by the Cabinet.
