Acquisition of Land for the Weliwita Water Supply Project

- The Weliwita Water Supply Project has been identified as a priority project to cater for the future demand of water for the areas such as Athurugiriya, Homagama, Kaduwela, Malabe, Pannipitiya, Maharagama, Dehiwala, Kotte and Battaramulla. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Rauff Hakeem, the Minister of City Planning, Water Supply and Higher Education, to acquire the lands required for the construction of the water intake and the water treatment plant at Welivita and the Ground Reservoir at Hokandara and the pump house at Jayawadanagama, was approved by the Cabinet.
