Upgrading the diploma course conducted by Sri Lanka School of Animal Husbandry at Kundasale to obtain the National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 5 and 6

- As it is essential to achieve the National Vocational Qualification for all technical courses by the year 2020, all requirements pertaining to the development of syllabi teaching and training modules and the improvement of National Competency Standards have been finalized enabling to upgrade the two year Animal Husbandry Diploma Course conducted by the Department of Animal Production & Health to obtain the National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 5 and 6. Accordingly, it is expected to upgrade the said course as the two and a half year Higher National Diploma in Livestock Production Technology Course. As such, the proposal made by Hon. P. Harison, the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Economic Affairs, Livestock Development, Irrigation and Fisheries & Aquatic Resources Development to secure funds required for the establishment of an e-learning facility with the required infrastructure and upgrading the training farm and the infrastructure facilities for the purpose, was approved by the Cabinet.
