Construction of the Kokilai Bridge and approach roads across Kokilai Lagoon on Mullaitivu - Kokilai - Pulmudai Road

- It has been proposed to develop the Mullativu - Kokilai - Pulmudai Road to provide land connectivity on the coastal belt between the Eastern Province and the Northern Province. It is anticipated that the distance between Mullaitivu and Pulmudai will be reduced by around 100 km by the proposed bridge to be constructed across the Kokilai Lagoon. Further, it is proposed to obtain the financial facilities from the CSOB Bank of Czech Republic and a Local Commercial Bank for this project. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Mangala Samaraweera, the Minister of Finance & Mass Media, to conduct loan negotiations with the said Banks, was approved by the Cabinet.
