Providing a plot of land to expand the accommodation facilities of the Ceylon German Technical Training Institute (CGTTI)
- The Ceylon German Technical Training Institute initiated in the year 1959 under German Aid, currently offers 11 full time courses in the field of Auto Mobile Engineering and allied fields and enrolls around 600 trainees annually. In addition, 42 short‑term courses are conducted and around 2000 full time course trainees and a number exceeding 2500 part‑time course trainees follow training. This institute is located presently in a land in extent of around 13 acres and it has been planned to provide training opportunities to around further 150 trainees by extending the activities of this institute an establishing new workshops, class rooms and laboratories etc., As such, the proposal made by Hon. Ranil Wickremasinghe, Prime Minister and Minister of National Policies, Economic Affairs, Resettlement & Rehabilitation, Northern Province Development, Vocational Training & Skills Development and Youth Affairs, to obtain the plot of land situated adjacent to the said institute in extent of 4 acres and 15.5 perches belonging to the Urban Development Authority on lease basis, was approved by the Cabinet.
