Implementation of the National Drug Prevention Programme 'A Country Free of Drugs'
- The drug menace has adversely affected the well-being of the society both economically and socially. The National Drug Prevention Policy and the Action Plan was implemented with a view to providing a lasting solution to the drug menace and 'the Country Free of Drugs' programme to create a Nation Free of Drugs is being successfully implemented with the coordination of the Presidential Task Force on Drug Prevention and the contribution of the Sri Lanka Police, the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board and the other relevant institutions. As such, the proposal made by H.E. the President Maithripala Sirisena, to further expand the activities pertaining to 'the Country Free of Drugs', by the establishment of a National Authority for Rehabilitation of the Persons addicted to drugs and to import modern technology equipment capable of detecting toxic drugs and usage, was approved by the Cabinet.
