Increasing the Handling Capacity of the Coal Yard of the Lakvijaya Power Station
- The usage capacity of the coal yard of the Norochcholai Lakvijaya Power Plant is about 742,421 MT and it is sufficient only to store the coal requirement of 3 months. Therefore, it has been planned to increase the storage capacity of the Plant up to 1.21 million MT enabling it to fulfill the coal requirement for 6 months. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Ravi Karunanayake, the Minister of Power, Energy and Business Development, to award the contract for the purpose to M/s China Machinery Engineering Corporation of China, as recommended by the Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee (SCAPC), was approved by the Cabinet.
