Implementation of the High Priority focused Road Development Projects in the Northern and Eastern Provinces

- The Government has focused its attention for the rehabilitation of the road network in the area and for further enhancing the livelihood of the people living in the Northern and Eastern Provinces and providing them with the necessary facilities. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Ranil Wickremasinghe, in his capacity as the Minister of National Policies, Economic Affairs, Resettlement & Rehabilitation, Northern Province Development, Vocational Training & Skills Development and Youth Affairs, to award the contract for the rehabilitation of the roads belonging to the Provincial Road Development Department of the Northern Province to the CEC-NEM Joint Venture, the contract for the rehabilitation of the roads belonging to the Local Government Department of the Northern Province to M/s KDE Weerasinghe & Co. Pvt. LTD., the contract for the rehabilitation of the roads belonging to the Road Development Authority within the Eastern Province to the Consulting Engineers & Contractors Pvt. Ltd., the contract for the rehabilitation of the roads belonging to the Provincial Road Development Department of the Eastern Province to Nawaloka Construction Company Pvt. Ltd. and the contract for the rehabilitation of the roads belonging to the Local Government Department of the Eastern Province to M/s Sinohydro Corporation Limited, as recommended by the Cabinet Appointed Negotiation Committee, was approved by the Cabinet.
