Ensuring the quality of Seeds and Planting Materials

- It has been identified that the use of quality seeds and planting material will increase the quantity of the harvest from 15% -20%. Therefore, it has been planned to provide the farmers with processing equipment and services necessary for producing quality seeds, facilities required for the improvement and proper maintenance of mother plant gardens, the ways of popularizing new plant varieties and approved imported planting materials, ensuring the quality of seeds and planting materials that are available in the market and adopting the multi-dimensional media propaganda methods to educate the farmers and producers and expanding the activities of planting material production industry. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. P. Harison, the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Economic Affairs, Livestock Development, Irrigation and Fisheries & Aquatic Resources Development, to secure funds required for the purpose, was approved by the Cabinet.
