Food safety enhancement through the establishment of a Sustainable Agriculture Development Centre

- The Centre of Excellence for Organic Agriculture (CEOA) at Makandura conducts research and technology transfer on organic agriculture and organic fertilizer while the Regional Agriculture Research and Development Centre (RARDC) at Makandura conducts research in several other sectors such as crop improvement and plant nutrition. It has been found necessary to establish an Eco-friendly Agriculture Development and Research Centre at present and as such, the proposal made by Hon. P. Harison, the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Economic Affairs, Livestock Development, Irrigation and Fisheries & Aquatic Resources Development, to secure funds required to establish the Sustainable Agriculture Development Centre amalgamating the said two centres, was approved by the Cabinet.
