Provision of drinking water for model villages and reawakened settlements in Chronic Kidney Disease of Unknown Etiology (CKDU) affected areas

- The approval of the Cabinet had been granted previously to utilize the funds allocated to the model village and reawakened settlements project to provide drinking water to the said villages in the CKDU affected areas. In this respect, the joint proposal made by Hon.Rauff Hakeem, the Minister of City Planning, Wate Supply and Higher Education and Hon.Sajith Premadasa, the Minister of Housing, Construction and Cultural Affairs, to implement the project for improving the Kirindi Oya water treatment plant, enabling to provide drinking water for 703 families in 18 model villages located in Lunugamwehera and Thissamaharama Divisional Secretariat Divisions in the Hambantota District, with an investment of Rs. 298 million, was approved by the Cabinet.
