Construction of an Auditorium for the District Secretariat in Galle

- The Galle Secretariat and most of the Public Institutions in the Southern Province hold State functions, Conferences, Seminars and Public Discussions in a Hall at the Hall de Galle which is a high tourist attraction vicinity situated in the sea belt of the Galle City. This premises which is of a very high commercial value situated in the area of the Galle Fort is proposed to be released for planned tourist development activities and for design and construction of a new auditorium with a seating capacity of 2,000 for the use of the Galle District Secretariat. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Wajira Abeywardena, the Minister of Internal & Home Affairs and Provincial Councils & Local Government, to award the contract to M/s Sanken Construction (Pvt.) Ltd. for a sum of Rs.2,656.87 million, as recommended by the Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee (CAPC), was approved by the Cabinet.
