Development of the Ayurvedic Hospital at Polwatta in Ambalangoda

- The Ayurvedic hospital at Polwatta in Ambalangoda conducts its residential treatment services with 02 wards consisting of 18 beds. Although around 3000 patients attend to hospital seeking treatment, it has found difficult to provide them with the required residential treatment facilities due to the insufficient residential facilities.
Considering the contribution that could be made for preventing and controlling diseases such as cancer, heart ailments, diabetes, blood pressure etc. by the hospital and the proposed Yoga Treatment Unit, it has been planned to implement a project in 04 stages to upgrade the hospital. Construction activities of its first stage is nearing completion and development activities of its first and second storyes will be carried out under its Second and Third Stage and the development activities of its Third storey will be carried out under its Fourth stage. Therefore, the proposal made by Hon. (Dr.) Rajitha Senaratne, the Minister of Health, Nutrition & Indigenous Medicine for securing the provisions required for the purpose, was approved by the Cabinet.
