Upgrading the Healthcare facilities in the District General Hospitals of Kilinochchi and Vavuniya and the Base Hospitals of Point-Pedro and Mankulam

- A proposal has been made to upgrade the healthcare facilities in the District General Hospitals of Kilinochchi and Vavuniya and the Base Hospitals of Point-Pedro and Mankulam for improving the health facilities and services of the Northern Province. The estimated cost to be incurred for the project is Euro 54.45 million and out of which 75% of the said investment will be granted by the ING Bank N.V of Netherlands as an ECA Backed Term Loan and the balance 25% will be financed by a grant extended by the Government of Netherlands. As such, the proposal made by Hon. Mangala Samaraweera, the Minister of Finance & Mass Media, to implement this project by the Ministry of Health, Nutrition & Indigenous Medicine in collaboration with the Provincial Council of the Northern Province, was approved by the Cabinet.
