Kolonnawa Canal Diversion Scheme- Stage IV

- The last section of the Kiththampahuwa canal is scheduled to be rehabilitated under Stage IV of the Kolonnawa Canal Diversion Scheme to be implemented under the Metro Colombo Urban Development Project. Under this stage it is expected to remove the bottlenecks to the canal flow, construct gabion wall, protect the bank by using permanent sheet pile, construct O&M roads with side drain, dredge, reconstruct the bridge and construct gate structure and mechanical works of the Gate. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon.Patali Champika Ranawaka, the Minister of Megapolis & Western Development, to award the contract for the construction of Kolonnawa Canal Diversion Scheme- Stage IV Project to M/s E&C- RR Joint Venture for a sum of Rs.1,431.68 million, as recommended by the Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee, was approved by the Cabinet.
