Construction of Parallel Roads for access to the houses situated on either side of the Matara - Beliatte Railway Track

- The construction activities of the Matara - Beliatte railway project is nearing completion and it is expected to commence train operations from the year 2019 covering the entire coastal railway track from Colombo to Beliatte. The need for the construction of parallel roads has been identified considering the necessity of providing access to the houses of the people living in the area being situated on either side of the Matara - Beliatte railway track. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Nimal Siripala de Silva, the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, to get the construction activities of 54 roads with a total length of 12.95 km done under the supervision of the Road Development Authority, was approved by the Cabinet.
