Science & Technology Human Resources Development Project.

-With the introduction of the 'Technology Stream' for the G.C.E. Advanced Level, the University Grants Commission has recognized 10 State Universities to award degrees for the new technology subjects. As such, it has been planned to establish 03 Technological Faculties in the University of Kelaniya, Rajarata University and the Sabaragamuwa University and an Engineering Faculty in the University of Sri Jayawardhanapura. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. (Dr.) Wijayadasa Rajapaksa, the Minister of Higher Education & Cultural Affairs, to secure Rs.26,400 million necessary for the Universities to develop their physical and human resources for the commencement of the said degree programmes within the time frame from 2018-2023, was approved by the Cabinet.
