Press briefing of Cabinet Decision taken on 2018-10-23

Carrying out Geotechnical Investigations necessary for the Engineering Designs of the Kelani Flood Embankment.

- It has been proposed to construct a flood embankment along the Kelani river from Hanwella up to the river mouth to mitigate the damage caused around the Kelani River Basin by floods. The said activities are planned to be carried out under 03 sub-projects. A Geotechnical Investigation has to be carried out prior to the construction of the proposed flood embankments and as such, the proposal made by Hon. Duminda Dissanayake, the Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources & Disaster Management, to get the necessary activities done by the National Building Research Institute, was approved by the Cabinet.
