Establishment of an International Buddhist Organization for the promotion of the Buddhist Philosophy.

- It has been proposed to establish an International Buddhist Organization to promote Buddhist philosophy locally and internationally. Accordingly, it is expected to make Sri Lanka as the center for promoting and disseminating the Buddhist philosophy and to take necessary measures to protect and conserve Buddhist monuments and places all over the world. As such, the proposal made by Hon. Gamini Jayawickrema Perera, the Minister of Buddhasasana, to draft necessary legislation to establish the proposed International Buddhist Organization, was approved by the Cabinet.
