Augmentation of the National Kidney Fund for treatment, prevention and welfare of kidney patients.

- “The National Kidney Fund” was established to provide more appropriate treatments, prevention and welfare services for the patients from low income families suffering from Chronic Kidney Disease of uncertain etiology. Utilizing the said fund, activities such as awareness programmes, programmes to Pre identify kidney patients, development of infrastructure in health sector required for treatments of patients and providing pure drinking water are carried out. Accordingly, the proposal made by H.E. the President Maithripala Sirisena, to appoint a Supervisory Board chaired by the Secretary to the President to carry out its functions effectively and to form a scheme to grant its benefits, was approved by the Cabinet.
