Providing of Houses for the Resettled Families of the Northern and Eastern Provinces

- It has been planned to construct 65,000 houses under the project for providing houses for the displaced persons in the Northern and Eastern Provinces. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. D.M. Swaminathan, the Minister of Resettlement, Rehabilitation, Northern Development & Hindu Religious Affairs, to award the contract to the consortium of ND Enterprises (India), Yapka Developers (Pvt.) Ltd. (Sri Lanka) and Archedium (Pvt.) Ltd. (Sri Lanka) for the construction of 28,000 housing units, as Phase I, subject to a cost of Rs.1,280,000/- per housing unit, in accordance with the recommendation of the Cabinet Appointed Negotiation Committee (CANC), was approved by the Cabinet.
