Social Integration of the Export Village Programme through the Model Village Programme

- It has been found that the persons living in the Model Villages can reach the economic and environmental development through the Export Village Programme implemented by the Government. The livelihood development facilities can be provided to the beneficiaries by providing planting material, knowledge and other technical assistance to those living in such Model Villages, required for the collective cultivation of selected export crops or the assistance required in the commencement of a manufacturing industry. As such, the proposal made by Hon. Sajith Premadasa, the Minister of Housing and Construction, to implement the Export Village Programme in the Model Villages, in association with the Ministry of Social Welfare and Primary Industries, was approved by the Cabinet.
