Construction of a Palliative Care Centre in Anuradhapura to provide care for the Patients with Kidney Disease and Cancer
- The 'Shanthi Foundation' in Australia has agreed to construct a Palliative Care Centre in the Anuradhapura town as a donation for the terminally ill patients with Chronic Kidney Disease and Cancer. Under the proposed Centre, it has been planned to construct a Palliative Care Unit for the indoor patients, Out Door Patient Clinics, a Home based Palliative Care Unit and a Training and Research Unit. In this context, a Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between the 'Shanthi Foundation' in Australia and the Ministry of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine for the establishment and the maintenance of the proposed Palliative Care Centre. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. (Dr.) Rajitha Senaratne, the Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine, for the establishment and maintenance of the said Palliative Care Centre, was approved by the Cabinet.
