Approval for the submission of the Gazette Notifications under the Excise (Special Provisions) Act, No.13 of 1989

- In terms of the Excise (Special Provisions) Act, No.13 of 1989, any Notification issued by the Gazette Notifications issued under the said Act, should be presented in Parliament within 04 months from the date of publication of such Notification. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Mangala Samaraweera, the Minister of Finance and Mass Media, to present the Gazette Notification No.2079/58 to revise the Excise duty imposed on the amount of sugar added in some sweetened beverages, the Gazette Notification No.2080/31 for removing the condition to release motor vehicles from the Sri Lanka Customs on or before 30th April 2018, the Gazette Notification No.2082/11 for the revision of Excise duty on Cigarettes and the Gazette Notification Nos.2082/10 and 2083/2 for the revision of Excise Tax on motor vehicles with an engine capacity below 1000 CC, which have been issued by now, in Parliament for approval, was approved by the Cabinet.
