Providing relief to the people affected by severe dry weather conditions

- The Government has decided to provide relief measures further required to the people affected by the severe dry weather conditions, due to not being able to engage in cultivation activities. As such, the proposal made by H.E. the President Maithripala Sirisena, to provide relief measures for total 451,224 families, comprising of the farmer families who cultivate paddy and other crops and could not cultivate the last three seasons consecutively due to dry weather conditions, families who could not engage in inland fishing industry and lost their livelihood due to dry weather conditions and the labour families engaged in agriculture, was approved by the Cabinet.
