Issuance of Request for Proposals (RFPs) for the implementation of the Western Region Light Rail Transit (WRLRT) Project

- It has been planned to construct three (03) Light Rail Transit lines, namely, the 'Red Line' 33km in length through Ragama - Kadawatha - Colombo Fort upto Kirulapone, the 'Green Line' 28.3km in length through Kelaniya - Borella - Nugegoda - Piliyandala upto Moratuwa, the 'Blue Line' 22.3km in length through Hunupitiya - Angoda - Koswatta upto Kottawa, with a view to establishing a more comfortable and safe transport service. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Patali Champika Ranawaka, the Minister of Megapolis and Western Development, for the Issuance of Requests for Proposals for the implementation of the said projects, was approved by the Cabinet.
