Providing facilities for immediate clearance of containers and cargo transported by ships

- It has been proposed to construct and operate a Customs Bonded Warehouse as a Public-Private joint venture with the Ceylon Shipping Corporation Ltd. (CSC) so as to clear expeditiously the containers and cargo transported by ships utilizing the modern technology. As such, the proposal made by Hon. Mahinda Samarasinghe, the Minister of Ports and Shipping, to issue Request for Proposals to submit bids with a feasibility study from the parties who have responded to the Expression of Interest for same, was approved by the Cabinet.
