Establishment of a Liquefied Natural Gas Fired Power Plant in Hambantota

- Approval of the Cabinet has been previously granted to establish a Liquefied Natural Gas Fired Power Plant of 400 MW as an integrated project between the Government of China and the Government of Sri Lanka. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, the Minister of Power and Renewable Energy, to implement the said project by a Joint Venture established between the Hambantota Power Private Limited incorporated in Singapore and the Ceylon Electricity Board, was approved by the Cabinet.
