Declaration of the Tripitaka as a National Heritage

- The Joint Proposal made by H.E. the President Maithripala Sirisena; Hon. Gamini Jayawickrema Perera, the Minister of Buddhasasana; and Hon. (Dr.) Wijayadasa Rajapaksa, the Minister of Higher Education & Cultural Affairs, to name the Tripitaka containing the preaching of Sri Gauthama Buddha as a National Heritage, for the Government to officially declare the same, and for the re-printing and other activities related to the Tripitaka to be carried out under the supervision of the Ministry of Buddhasasana, was approved by the Cabinet.
