Implementing the Recommendations submitted by the Office on Missing Persons

- The Office on Missing Persons has made its recommendations by the Interim Report submitted on 5th August 2018 on the legal reforms to be effected with regard to the steps to be taken in relation to the legal obligations for reparation and to ensure the non-occurrence of such incidents. Further, recommendations have been made on implementing Financial Assistance Programmes, Debt Relief Programmes, Housing Development Programmes, Educational Support Programmes, Vocational Training and Livelihood Development Programmes for the affected parties. Accordingly, the proposal made by H.E. the President Maithripala Sirisena, to appoint a Cabinet Sub-Committee comprising of another 10 Ministers, under the Chairmanship of Hon. (Dr.) Wijayadasa Rajapaksa, to study the said recommendations and propose appropriate future course action and to secure facilities required to implement the recommendations of the said Sub‑Committee, was approved by the Cabinet.
