Submission of the regulations made on the factory conditions in terms of the Factories Ordinance, in Parliament
- The Factories Ordinance has been enforced by the Department of Labour in order to inspect the factories enabling to maintain the occupational safety protect, the health and welfare of the employees. Taking into consideration the need for effective enforcement of the law on the factory conditions, the proposal made by Hon. Ravindra Samaraweera, the Minister of Labour & Trade Union Relations, to present 05 Regulations made in terms of the provisions of the Factories Ordinance on the Registration of Factories and Approval of Factory Buildings, Registration of Steam Boilers, issuance of Certificates for examination of Steam Boilers and other Pressure Vessels, protection of workers from excessive noise and General Standard of the lights of the Factories, for approval in Parliament and thereafter publish the same in the Government Gazette, was approved by the Cabinet.
