Renovation of the Railway Bridge in Galle

- It has been found necessary to construct a new railway bridge after demolishing the narrow bridge constructed via Galle - Matara railway bridge crossing the Moda Ela due to the barrier it causes for efficient flood conveyance. As such, the proposal made by Hon. Patali Champika Ranawaka, the Minister of Megapolis and Western Development, to secure funds required for the construction of a temporary railway bridge and a railway track for transportation purposes until the proposed bridge is constructed, was approved by the Cabinet.
