Amendments to the Finance Bill - 2018

- The Finance Bill prepared to facilitate for the implementation of the various proposals submitted through the Budgets of the years of 2016, 2017, and 2018 by the Government, has been presented in Parliament. Taking into consideration the requests made by different parties on the implementation of the said proposals, it has been observed that it would be appropriate to include the amendments during the Committee Stage of the Bill in Parliament since it requires some amendments to implement the above proposals effectively. As such, the proposal made by Hon. Mangala Samaraweera, the Minister of Finance and Mass Media, to instruct the Legal Draftsman to amend the Finance Bill by revising various taxes, dates on implementation of certain provisions and other administrative provisions, was approved by the Cabinet.
