Construction of the Intake Structure of the Bandarawela, Diyathalawa and Haputale Integrated Water Supply Project

- The Bandarawela, Diyathalawa and Haputale Integrated Water Supply Project has been planned to be implemented to address the present and the future water needs of the residents of the 63 Grama Niladhari Divisions affected by the implementation of the Uma Oya Multipurpose Development Project. Accordingly, the Dayabara Reservoir which is being constructed under the Uma Oya Project has been identified as the water source of the said project. Presently, the construction work of the Dayabara Reservoir is nearing its completion and as the Intake Structure of the Reservoir has to be constructed before filling the Reservoir, the proposal made by Hon. Rauff Hakeem, the Minister of City Planning and Water Supply, to award the said contract to the Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau / Central Engineering Services (Pvt.) Ltd., and also to secure the funds required for the purpose, was approved by the Cabinet.
