Regulation of the Boat building Industry and providing infrastructure facilities

- With a view to improving the Boat building industry in Sri Lanka, feasibility study is expected to be carried out to construct the Boat launching pad, slipway, repair facilities and the breakwater in Weligama, Kapparathota for facilitating the preparation of a regulatory framework for the purpose and for providing the necessary infrastructure facilities to the existing boat builders to continue with their industry. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Malik Samarawickrema, the Minister of Development Strategies and International Trade, to secure the required provision for the continuation of the project, was approved by the Cabinet.
