Integrated e-Land Registry (e-LR) Project for improving Registering Property Mechanism
- The e-Land Registry has been initiated with the objective of elevating the position of Sri Lanka in the Ease of Doing Business Index by improving the access to land information by investors when registering a property. The current process of registering a property takes 51 days and consists of 09 steps. Through the implementation of the e-Land Registry project, it is expected to reduce the said duration up to 05 days and 02 steps. The programme has been planned to be implemented in the Western and Southern Provinces in the year 2018. As such, the Joint Proposal made by Hon. Vajira Abeywardena, the Minister of Home Affairs and Hon. Malik Samarawickrema, the Minister of Development Strategies and International Trade, to secure the required provision for the future implementation of the said project Island Wide, was approved by the Cabinet.
