Upgrading of the Provincial General Hospital - Ratnapura as a Teaching Hospital
- It has been planned to accommodate the first intake of medical students which consists of 75 undergraduates for the Faculty of Medicine of the Sabaragamuwa University at the end of the year 2018. The need has arisen to upgrade the Ratnapura General Hospital as a Teaching Hospital with a view to providing the said medical students with clinical training. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. (Dr.) Rajitha Senaratne, the Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine, to upgrade the Provincial General Hospital in Ratnapura as a Teaching Hospital in order to function as the hospital affiliated to the new Faculty of Medicine of the Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka, was approved by the Cabinet.
