Introduction of a transit card which could be used in bus and rail transport

- In order to modernize the Public Transport Service of Sri Lanka and for the convenience of the commuters, it has been planned to introduce a transit card system through an electronic payment methodology. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Nimal Siripala de Silva, the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, to facilitate the implementation of a Framework for a Standardized common card required in that regard, was approved by the Cabinet.
