Reconstruction of Sri Lanka Maha Viharaya in Nepal

- The Sri Lanka Maha Viharaya situated in the vicinity of the Lumbini Sacred Area in Nepal where the birth of the Gautama Buddha took place is a place of worship of the Buddhist pilgrims. As such, the proposal made by Hon. Gamini Jayawickrema Perera, the Minister of Buddhasasana, to provide necessary provision for the further reconstruction activities to be carried out in the Sri Lanka Maha Viharaya with a view to developing the said sacred area as a place of worship which demonstrates the flourishing of the Theravada Buddhism, was approved by the Cabinet.
