Naming the year 2018 as the National Food Production year

- H.E. the President Maithripala Sirisena made the Cabinet aware that action will be taken to issue circular instructions for all the relevant Government institutions to focus attention on re‑cultivating the abandoned paddy lands, making use of all other cultivable lands for cultivation purposes and producing the seeds and planting materials required for the crop cultivation, with a view to giving a fresh start to the agricultural activities which had declined due to adverse weather conditions such as drought and floods that occurred in the past years.
