The project for upgrading the infrastructure facilities at the Industrial Engineering Training Institute (IETI) in Katubedda

- The Industrial Engineering Training Institute (IETI) in Katubedda offers Three year full time courses at National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 4 in the fields of Electrical, Construction, Wood Work and a one year course in the Computer Application. It has been planned to increase the annual intake of students to the institute which offers courses suited to the job market by enhancing its facilities. As such, the proposal made by Hon. (Dr.) Sarath Amunugama, the Minister of Science, Technology, Research, Skills Development & Vocational Training and Kandyan Heritage, to call for a comprehensive project proposal to upgrade the institute with an investment of Rs.2,400 million by obtaining financial assistance from an Austrian Soft Loan Scheme; and to secure foreign donor assistance for the purpose, was approved by the Cabinet.
