New Projects proposed to be implemented from the year 2019 for the performance of the Plantation Sector

- Through the export of products associated with tea, rubber and coconut, an income of Rs.457.85 billion could be generated in the year 2017 and it has been found that various research, services and methodologies should be enhanced in order to generate more income. For this purpose, it has been planed to implement projects for the production of hybrid coconut seeds, the production and distribution of the predatory Mites for the control Mite damages and the construction of productive and highly efficient modern smoke houses. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Navin Dissanayake, the Minister of Plantation Industries, to secure the provision needed for the purpose, was approved by the Cabinet.
