Bringing back to normal the reservoirs and the agricultural wells in the North Central Province dried up due to the dry weather conditions
- It has been found that nearly 12,000 cultivation wells and approximately 2,000 reservoirs used to take drinking water in the North Central Province have dried up due to the prevailing dry climatic conditions. As such, the proposal made by Hon. Duminda Dissanayake, the Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources & Disaster Management, for the construction of common new drinking water wells to be resistant to drought, excavation of the dried up cultivation wells, excavation of wells in the dried up reservoirs and renovation of the drinking water wells to be carried out by the farmer organizations through the Divisional Secretaries, was approved by the Cabinet.
