The Northern Province Sustainable Fisheries Development Project

- It has been planned to implement the Northern Province Sustainable Fisheries Development Programme, which consists of 03 components such as construction and development of a fishery harbour, anchorages and landing sites, aquaculture development and livelihood development, with financial assistance of US$ 174 million to be provided by the Asian Development Bank within the period of 2018 - 2024. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Vijith Vijayamuni Zoysa, the Minister of Fisheries & Aquatic Resources Development and Rural Economic Affairs, to allocate an equal amount of US$ 27.22 million as the Government contribution for this project, was approved by the Cabinet.
