Providing new accommodation for the Department of Cultural Affairs

- It has been found that the Department of Cultural Affairs maintained at the Sethsiripaya Building at Battaramulla does not have adequate facilities to accommodate its staff of about 170 and the artistes and other persons coming from various parts of the Island for the activities pertaining to the 12 institutions affiliated to the said Department. As such, the proposal made by Hon. (Dr.) Wijayadasa Rajapaksa, the Minister of Higher Education & Cultural Affairs, to vest the building premises at Kappetipola Mawatha where the Department for Registration of Persons was then located, with the Department of Cultural Affairs to relocate the Department of Cultural Affairs at the said premises, was approved by the Cabinet.
