Project for the construction of the Kandy Multimodal Transport Terminal (KMTT) - Transitional bus operation during the construction of KMTT

- The construction activities of the Kandy Multimodal Transport Terminal (KMTT) are at the design stage and during its construction period, facilities need to be provided for an uninterrupted bus operation. A time scheduling system has been prepared for the operation of these buses mitigating the traffic congestion in the city and under the 'Sahasara' programme implemented by the Central Province Passenger Transport Services Authority, it has been planned to upgrade and implement the Information Technology (IT) based bus operating system. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Patali Champika Ranawaka, the Minister of Megapolis and Western Development, to make use of the proposed Information Technology procedure in the implementation of the above proposals, was approved by the Cabinet.
