Amendments to the National Land Use Policy

- The existence of a Land Use Policy formulated on a more scientific basis has been identified by the Government for the fulfillment of the daily increasing human requirements within Sri Lanka which has an extent of 6.55 million hectares of limited land, the implementation of the national economic development strategies and to maintain the proper environmental equilibrium. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Gayantha Karunathilaka, the Minister of Lands and Parliamentary Reforms, to analyze and amend the existing land use policy approved in the year 2007 to suit the present trends with the contribution of all relevant stakeholders, was approved by the Cabinet.
